Manchester United are reportedly contemplating a transfer decision on Shea Lacey that will undoubtedly send shockwaves across the fanbase.

Lacey’s rise

Lacey is widely considered to be among the best and most exciting talents currently coming out of Carrington.

He has taken big steps this season, finally making his senior debut in the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa in December under Ruben Amorim.

The youngster also featured as a substitute in the Premier League draw with Burnley back in January, catching the eye with an electric cameo that nearly produced a dramatic late winner for the Red Devils.

Lacey has not turned out for the United first team since he was sent off in the FA Cup third round defeat to Brighton on January 11.

The 18-year-old sustained an injury, which has kept him from playing a role since Michael Carrick was named Ruben Amorim’s replacement. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Lacey is back in training, and he will be hoping that his upward trajectory in the side continues.

Carrick has repeatedly made it clear that he will not hesitate to hand opportunities to young players, provided they prove they can handle the pressure and responsibilities of representing United.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, there is a chance that United will loan out Lacey during the summer transfer window.

Lacey transfer update

Nixon revealed on his Patreon page that United’s decision is motivated by doubts over whether Lacey will receive sufficient opportunities to make his mark at Old Trafford.

United are bracing for another busy transfer window, and potential reinforcements in the attacking department could result in fewer minutes for Lacey, potentially stunting his development.

Football League World have named Middlesbrough, Norwich and Preston North End as Championship teams that should be alive to Lacey’s situation.

However, it’s important to wait for this claim to be substantiated by more reliable sources. Lacey is highly regarded at United, and the club would almost certainly prefer to keep him rather than sanction a temporary exit.
