Man Utd activate Youri Tielemans' release clause | OneFootball

Manchester United have activated the £35 million release clause of Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans according to reports.

The news comes shortly after the touted signing of Brazilian midfielder Éderson fell through after the player underwent a prolonged medical.

Now, United are going for someone with plenty of Premier League experience in Tielemans who has a verbal agreement to make the move according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 29-year-old first made his move to the Premier League when he joined Leicester City on an initial loan from AS Monaco midway through the 2018/19 season. Tielemans then went on to sign for Aston Villa on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship.

Last season, Tielemans featured 35 times for Villa in all competitions, scoring twice and making seven assists. He also featured at the 2026 World Cup for Belgium, scoring twice against Senegal in the knock-out stage.
