Leeds United resume their Premier League survival push at Manchester United on Monday night, with injuries and fresh doubts on both sides after Leeds’ FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham appeared to come at a cost.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Michael Carrick’s side have not played since a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth before the international break, leaving a 23-day gap before the 8pm kick-off at Old Trafford.
United have fitness concerns and a suspension to manage. Benjamin Sesko withdrew from March international duty and there are indications he will be available, though he remains a doubt. Lisandro Martinez has missed the last five matches with a calf issue and is thought to be close to a return, but still a doubt.
Matthijs de Ligt is a major doubt, effectively out, having not played since November because of a back problem, with no timescale given. Carrick has said they are trying to get him back quickly. Bryan Mbeumo is a slight doubt but expected back, having started at Bournemouth, gone off at half-time after a knock and later withdrawn from Cameroon duty.
Leeds were without Gabriel Gudmundsson at West Ham due to a minor groin issue and he was not risked. Joe Rodon rolled his ankle early in the second half and had to come off. Farke said he would be assessed and noted the extra time before Monday should help.
