Manchester United have progressed to the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualification after defeating Hammarby in Sweden.
Marc Skinner's side made it to this game after thrashing PSV 4-0 but Hammarby were always going to provide stiffer resistance.
However, the WSL side almost took the lead inside the first few minutes when Ella Toone pulled the ball back for Elisabeth Terland on the left but the Norwegian's shot was straight at Melina Loeck.
New signing Julia Zigiotti Olme looked impressive in her debut last time out and she forced Loeck into a fine save just before the break as she looked to get one over her former club.
United scored the only goal of the game with just over an hour gone. Celin Bizet Dønnum sent in a deep cross from the right that Melvine Malard got on to the end two and headed down for Terland to apply the finishing touch.
That goal proved to be decisive with United managing to see out the final half of the game and will now compete in the two-legged third qualifying round in a few weeks' time.
