Newcastle United and Liverpool are both reportedly eyeing a move for Hugo Ekitiké, who could be on his way out of Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. Paris Saint-Germain, his former club, would benefit from the transfer thanks to a 20 percent sell-on clause.

According to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Ekitiké is high on Liverpool’s list of attacking targets. However, the 23-year-old French striker understands that a switch to Anfield likely hinges on outgoings, most notably Darwin Núñez.

GIVE ME SPORT recently reported that Liverpool are prepared to open talks with Frankfurt, though a deal may only materialize if Núñez is sold.

The report adds that Liverpool have shown a willingness to negotiate, which has encouraged Frankfurt as they hold out for their full £86 million valuation. With multiple new arrivals already in place, offloading Núñez could be the key to making room for Ekitiké.

CaughtOffside reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that Manchester United are among the clubs making the most serious push for Ékitiké and have already made contact with the striker and his representatives. The club are also considering a player-plus-cash offer to accelerate the deal.

Newcastle United are pushing to sign Ékitiké in a deal worth around €75 million, according to The Athletic. While nothing is finalized yet, negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt are ongoing.

If the move goes through, it would become the most expensive signing in club history, topping the €71.2 million spent on Aleksander Isak in 2022.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added that Newcastle submitted an official offer on Monday. Their bid comes in higher than another club’s €70 million proposal earlier this summer, showing their intent to get the deal done.
