Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday at 12pm.

United saw a five-game unbeaten run end at the expense of 10-man Everton on Monday night as Ruben Amorim’s side fell to a 1-0 loss at Old Trafford, a result that does mean they are now winless in three.

Manchester United will have been disappointed to have fallen to a narrow home loss to rivals Everton, who saw Idrissa Gueye dismissed early on for fighting with teammate Michael Keane.

The defeat ended United’s five-game unbeaten run, though in turn extended their winless streak to three matches.

Selhurst Park has proven a tough ground for United to visit in recent seasons, with the Manchester giants winless on their last five trips to Crystal Palace. That said, the Eagles do come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

United boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Matheus Cunha will sit out Sunday’s trip to the capital as he recovers from a training ground accident. United had hoped to have the Brazilian, who missed the defeat to Everton, available for selection, but will instead have to wait until the midweek meeting with West Ham.

Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire are also taking a little longer to overcome respective knocks and miss out.

Better news, though, is that Lisandro Martinez made the matchday squad against Everton. The Argentine suffered an ACL injury in the home defeat to Palace back in February and is available for selection in Sunday’s lunchtime kick off.

Time for Zirkzee to prove his worth

United aren’t in the best of shape in the final third heading into Sunday’s trip to Palace. Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are both missing owing to respective injuries, meaning Amorim has to turn to Zirkzee to again lead the charge.

The Dutchman made his first start of the season in Monday’s 1-0 loss to Everton. For all intents and purposes, however, Zirkzee did well. Indeed, he managed United’s best chance of the game, forcing Jordan Pickford into a fine second half stop to deny a goalbound header.

Having been linked with a January exit, the 24-year-old is certainly keen to prove his worth, not just to United; but potential suitors, too.

Palace in the capital won’t be an easy game for United. Oliver Glasner has overseen just one home defeat this season. The Eagles have conceded just five goals in six home league matches.

With Cunha set to return for the midweek clash at West Ham, this could prove to be Zirkzee’s final chance at United. He needs to grab the opportunity with both hands.
