Sporting CP’s now-former director of football Hugo Viana is currently overseeing a transitional phase alongside Manchester City’s Txiki Begiristain before he takes on the same role on a full-time basis at the Etihad Stadium.

And after a hugely difficult season for the club, and Pep Guardiola’s worst campaign in terms of results since his arrival in England back in 2016, the Portuguese official faces a significant challenge in putting together a side that can return the club to their competitive best.

While immediate first-team stars will be at the forefront of Viana and Begiristain’s thinking over the coming weeks and months, there is also an eye towards the longer-term future as Manchester City have moved swiftly to secure one of the brightest names in Europe.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City have now agreed a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s highly-rated 18-year-old striker, Mahamadou Sangare on a free transfer this summer.

It is explained that there is now a verbal agreement in place between all relevant parties and a medical is due to take place with Manchester City securing yet another huge rising talent for their esteemed Academy system.

The teenage forward has been in remarkable striking form throughout the course of the ongoing season, establishing himself as one of the most prolific young strikers at Academy level across the continent.

In UEFA Youth League competition alone, Sangare recorded an outstanding nine goals across his 11 appearances in the competition for Paris Saint-Germain’s Under-19 side with a further two assists to compliment.

In fact, across all competitions and in various eligible age groups for the French capital club, the teenager has managed to score 42 goals in just 46 appearances with a further four assists on top.

For now it remains to be seen what Manchester City have in mind for the young striker, and whether a loan move into senior men’s football in Europe could be on the cards, or whether development within their own Academy system is viewed as more suitable.
