Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of today’s match at Molineux. It is the first game in the new Premier League season for both teams, and they’ll both be eager to start a new campaign on the front foot.
On their day, Wolves can be a handful. Under manager Vitor Pereira, they are resolute at the back and pack a punch in the final third. Midfielders Joao Gomes and Andre look to be key players for Vitor Pereira’s side this season. Up front, Jørgen Strand Larson is a player that Manchester City must contain if they are to prosper at Molineux.
Manchester City will be looking to start the 25/26 season on the front foot. The 24/25 campaign was a disappointing one for Pep Guardiola’s side. But they enter the new season refreshed and there is a sense of optimism that surrounds City. With Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford all joining the club there is a new look to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker have left Manchester City which does represent the end of one era, and the beginning of another. New assistants for Pep Guardiola in Pep Lijnders, Kolo Toure and James French add new ideas to the City coaching set up.
Here are the starting lineups for today’s Premier League fixture at Molineux.
There are three players unavailable due to injury for Manchester City today. Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic and Savinho will miss today’s match as per Pep Guardiola’s update yesterday. Phil Foden and Rodri could feature today after overcoming the injury issues that saw them miss Manchester City’s 3-nil win over Palermo.
It was reported earlier today that James Trafford would start in goal for Manchester City. That report has proven to be correct. Ederson isn’t included the Manchester City matchday squad for today’s fixture. Rodri and Phil Foden aren’t on the bench for today’s match.
Starting lineup: Trafford, Lewis, Stones, Ruben Dias, Ait-Nouri, Nico, Bernardo Silva, Reijnders, Bobb, Doku, Haaland.
Substitutes: Stefan Ortega, Ake, Marmoush, Cherki, Gundogan, Akanji, Nunes, O’Reilly, Khusanov.
