In a recent report, Le Parisien claimed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on Angers youngster Max-Edgar Chabot. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club are monitoring the progress of the French keeper ahead of a potential move for him this summer.

Chabot’s Impressive Rise In French Football

Chabot came through the youth ranks of Angers and did well to establish himself as a key member of their Under-19 team. The 18-year-old made nine appearances for the French outfit’s U-19 side thus far, conceding six goals and keeping four clean sheets in the process across multiple competitions.

The talented teenager is currently among the best young goalkeepers in French football. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are hoping to land Chabot in this transfer window.

However, the French whizkid is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if the Mancunian giants manage to get him on board this off-season.

Manchester City Are Keeping Tabs On Chabot: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Chabot can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He can use his quick reflexes to make some top saves at the back for his team.

The French talent usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is a good passer as well from the back. Standing at 1.91m, Chabot can use his string frame to dominate his penalty area. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Man City manage to snap him up later this year.

We can expect Chabot to enhance the quality of Enzo Maresca’s backline in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a decent number two option to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Mancunian club.

At 18, the future looks quite bright for Chabot as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is good enough to be a success story at the Etihad Stadium in the long term. With all things considered, Chabot is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Maresca should step up his efforts to land him this summer.
