In a recent post on X, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Manchester City are locked in a three-way battle for Wigan Athletic playmaker Harrison Bettoni. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Chelsea and AC Milan in the race to sign the English playmaker in this summer transfer window.

Bettoni’s Impressive Rise In English Football

The talented attacker has come through the youth ranks of Wigan and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their first team. Bettoni has already made 27 senior appearances for the English outfit so far, scoring four times across all competitions.

The 18-year-old is currently one of the most exciting young playmakers in English football. Therefore, Man City would do well to get him on board in this summer transfer window.

His current contract with Wigan will run out at the end of this month, which could open the door for the Mancunian giants to sign him on a free transfer this off-season.

Manchester City Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For Bettoni: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Bettoni is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few clever runs in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The English sensation has already added a few goals to his game. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to snap him up this summer.

Bettoni mainly functions in the number ten position but can also operate as a right-winger or as an attacking midfielder if told to do so. We can expect him to enhance the quality of Man City‘s frontline in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the Mancunian club’s squad.

At 18, Bettoni has the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Man City should focus on sealing a move for him this summer.
