Officials at Manchester City are putting together the final details on a season-long loan move for Issa Kabore, according to the latest developments.
The Burkina Faso international has been one of the most talked-about names in recent weeks as Etihad bosses seek clarity on his future following a succession of varying loan spells across Europe since joining City in 2020.
Stints across the continent have seen Kabore operate in Ligue 1, the Premier League, and most recently the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen. Despite those experiences, he has never fully broken into Guardiola’s plans, leaving his long-term Etihad prospects uncertain.
This summer, Kabore has attracted a wide range of suitors, with the likes of Southampton, Lyon, and Hamburg all linked, while Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Paris FC also explored deals.
In one development earlier this month, talks even took place over a potential move to Paris FC with an option-to-buy clause, highlighting Manchester City’s willingness to explore multiple exit routes for the right-back.
Now, according to the information of journalist Ben Jacobs, Championship newcomers and the highly-ambitious Wrexham are close to securing City’s Issa Kabore on a season-long loan from the Etihad Stadium.
For Wrexham, the signing would be a statement of intent as they adjust to life in the second tier of English football. Backed by their well-documented ownership model and growing ambitions, the club are looking to add players with Premier League and international pedigree to strengthen their push for stability – and potentially more.
Kabore’s athleticism and versatility at right-back would fit neatly into that project. The deal also provides Kabore with an opportunity to remain in English football after his spell at Luton, which, while ending in relegation, allowed him to showcase his ability at the top level.
Regular minutes in the Championship could prove crucial both for his international standing with Burkina Faso and his long-term club career, whether that ultimately leads back to Manchester City or a permanent move elsewhere.
This will be the second time this summer that Wrexham and Manchester City have completed transfer business this summer, with the Welsh club having signed highly-rated central defender Callum Doyle from the Etihad earlier in the market.
