Manchester City take on Brighton tomorrow at the Amex Stadium in their final Premier League fixture before the international break. Pep Guardiola’s side will be eager to pick up all three points following last weekend’s defeat to Tottenham. Heading into the game, Pep Guardiola revealed that Rayan Ait-Nouri will be available for the match against Brighton. That is good news for Manchester City. To counter that news, L’Equipe has reported that Rayan Cherki will miss tomorrow’s match due to a thigh injury.
Loïc Tanzi has reported for L’Equipe that Rayan Cherki will miss Manchester City’s match against Brighton. Furthermore, Tanzi reports that the French international has sustained a thigh injury. Tanzi adds that Cherki’s injury now means he is in doubt for France’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Cherki was selected in the French squad for their upcoming matches against Ukraine and Iceland.
It is a blow for Manchester City to lose Rayan Cherki for tomorrow’s match against Brighton. The Seagulls typically play an attractive brand of football, which could have left space for Cherki to operate in. His game does appear suited to playing against such an opponent. Also, after making his first start for City last weekend, Cherki would have been eager to have an impact on tomorrow’s match after not having the best match against Tottenham. But based on Loïc Tanzi’s new report, Cherki now won’t get that opportunity.
It is hoped that the thigh injury that Rayan Cherki has sustained isn’t serious. If he has to withdraw from international duty he should get two weeks to recover from the injury ahead of the Manchester derby which takes place after the international break.
