Manchester City are considering a move for Chelsea and Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez this summer, as per a new report.
The Blues are in the market for a new midfielder as they prepare for life beyond club captain Bernardo Silva, who confirmed last week that he will be leaving when his contract expires in June.
City are also negotiating a new contract with Ballon d’Or winning star Rodri, who is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal and has publicly opened the door to joining Real Madrid.

Executives at the Etihad Stadium are certain to sign at least one world-class midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali widely reported to be top targets.
As reported by The Athletic, Manchester City have now identified Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernandez as a target for the summer transfer window.
City’s interest is said to be at a fairly early stage as Fernandez weighs up his future at Stamford Bridge, having recently seen a two-game suspension for controversial transfer comments in an interview, wherein the 25-year-old said he’d love to live in Madrid.
Fernandez is under contract in west London till 2032 but faces an uncertain future at Chelsea, who parted company with head coach Liam Rosenior this week and are facing a fight for European football for the 2026-27 campaign.
Fernandez is undoubtedly one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League and would start for most sides in the English top-flight.
A FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina, the Chelsea star also netted an injury time leveller for the London Blues in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on January 4 – the same game that saw Josko Gvardiol hauled off with a right tibial fracture.

City are assessing the transfer market for financially responsible solutions to bolster their midfield and should Anderson, who is valued by Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at £125 million, prove too expensive, the sky Blues will look elsewhere.
Fernandez is one of many targets on City’s shortlist as director of football Hugo Viana and co scour the market for options before they strengthen their interest ahead of the FIFA World Cup across the Atlantic starting in June.
