In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Manchester City have identified Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali as a target. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Italian midfield ace this summer.

Tonali’s Impressive Form In English Football

Tonali has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Tyneside club this season as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has scored three goals and earned seven assists in 47 matches for the Magpies this season across all competitions.

The Italian talent is currently among the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Therefore, Man City would do well to lure him to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Mancunian giants to sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Snap Tonali Up?

Tonali is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

The Italian sensation can even strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.

We can expect Tonali to add more quality and depth to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s midfield department. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 25, Tonali has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Man City to consider in the summer transfer window. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Etihad Stadium. All in all, Man City would be wise to go all out to snap him up in the summer transfer window.
