There could be an intense fight for the services of one of Europe’s standout goalkeepers between three of the continent’s biggest clubs, according to new reports from Spain.

The latest information emerges as doubts continue to linger over Manchester City’s goalkeeping ranks, and whether changes in the position can be expected from club officials during the upcoming summer market.

Concerns over Ederson’s ability to remain fit for the duration of a season in excess of 60 games are starting to increase, particularly in light of a reoccurrence of a groin problem that has been impacting the Brazilian’s season throughout last weekend.

While assessments remain ongoing, the current belief is that Pep Guardiola may have to call upon Stefan Ortega Moreno for a prolonged period during the final few weeks of the campaign, with the Germany international consistently seeking more opportunities in bigger matches.

And while discussions will no doubt be ongoing in the background over the futures of both of Manchester City’s leading goalkeeping options, reports continue in Europe concerning who the club could look towards as a possible new profile between the posts for next season.

According to the information of La Grada Ràdio‘s Robert Hernando, who previously worked as an advisor for Espanyol, Arsenal have been joined by Manchester City and Real Madrid in looking at the RCDE Stadium goalkeeper, Joan García.

The Gunners had a €20 million bid rejected towards the end of last summer for the shot-stopper but remain keen, while breakthrough Italian club Como – managed by Cesc Fabregas – are also determined to secure the player’s signature.

However, the report – translated and relayed by Sport Witness – insists that the 23-year-old favours a move to either Real Madrid or England, while Los Blancos would be willing to let the goalkeeper continue at Espanyol on loan for up to two seasons.

For now, it remains to be seen whether either of Manchester City’s mainstay goalkeepers would be open to the idea of a fresh challenge this summer, having attracted interest from Saudi Arabia and Germany in recent markets.

Ederson is believed to have been open to the idea of a move to the Middle-East during the last summer transfer window, but City ultimately did not receive an offer that met their £50 million valuation of a player that continues to be so integral to Pep Guardiola’s plans.

As for Stefan Ortega Moreno, the likes of Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen have both shown interest in recent months, with the latter the most likely club to intensify their monitoring when the market reopens for the summer later this year.
