Puma and Manchester City are understood to have made Premier League history through the finances of their brand new kit deal, formally announced on Tuesday.
The German sportswear giant first became Manchester City’s main kit supplier ahead of the 2019/20 season, replacing Nike in a move that was already considered a step-change for the club commercially.
Since then, the two parties have enjoyed a hugely successful partnership, both in terms of trophy success and market expansion, with Manchester City emerging as one of the most visible brands in global football.
City’s dominance on the pitch over the last six seasons in particular has coincided with Puma’s drive to position themselves alongside the biggest names in the industry as they continue to face competition from the likes of Adidas and Nike.
With an increasingly global fanbase and growing commercial appeal across multiple continents, Manchester City have proven to be the perfect flagship club for Puma’s ambitions in football.
Now, according to the information of the Manchester Evening News’ Tyrone Marshall, Manchester City have agreed what is believed to be the highest value Premier League kit deal in history after signing an extension with PUMA that could eventually be worth £1 billion.
The extension will see PUMA continue to make Manchester City kits for at least 10 more years, with the agreement valued at £100 million a season and running until at the least 2034/35 season.
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive Officer of City Football Group, said of the renewed agreement as part of the formal announcement on Tuesday: “We joined forces with PUMA with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations.
“We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons. PUMA have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we’ve enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.
“Today’s renewal and extension solidifies our relationship and projects it to an even brighter future.”
The renewed terms significantly outstrip previous kit deals secured by other Premier League giants. Manchester United’s agreement with Adidas, valued at around £90 million per year, and Arsenal’s similarly structured contract, now fall behind Manchester City’s new terms.
Beyond the first team, this deal further reinforces PUMA’s commercial synergy across the wider City Football Group — with Girona, Melbourne City, and Mumbai City also enjoying branded supply from the company.
PUMA CEO Arthur Hoeld commented on the agreement: “PUMA’s partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch. Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success were exceptional.”
This record-breaking deal also boosts Manchester City’s long-term financial health in a climate of increasing scrutiny around Financial Sustainability Regulations (FSR), formerly FFP.
With over £100 million expected in annual revenue from the agreement, it further strengthens the club’s ability to reinvest across their sporting and commercial departments — including infrastructure, youth development, and future transfer business.
Looking ahead, fans can likely expect deeper integration between PUMA and City, not just through kits but through lifestyle drops, cultural collaborations, and global campaigns. As football brands become increasingly embedded in broader culture, PUMA may lean on City’s star-studded appeal to drive visibility across emerging markets.
