In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones revealed that Manchester City are facing stiff competition for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club would have to rival Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to land the English talent next year.

Anderson’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Anderson is having an impressive campaign at the Midlands club after he produced a run of eye-catching displays for them at the centre of the park. The 23-year-old has scored one goal and secured one assist in 17 appearances for Nottingham this season across multiple competitions.

The English talent has offered solid protection for his teammates at the back as he has made 35 tackles, 21 blocks, 14 interceptions and 13 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 83% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Anderson is under contract at the Midlands club until the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Mancunian giants to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Manchester City Are Facing Stiff Competition For Anderson: Is He Worth The Fight?

Anderson is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is an accurate passer of the ball as well.

The English sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his side. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if required.

We can expect Anderson to add more quality and depth to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.

At 23, Anderson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Mancunian outfit to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time at Man City. All in all, he would be well worth the fight, so Guardiola should consider recruiting him next year.
