Leeds United are targeting Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford for a possible summer loan as they look to reinforce their goalkeeping options.
TeamTalk reports that Aston Villa and Newcastle are also interested, and that Manchester City are open to an exit but would prefer a loan rather than a sale, having only just spent £27m to bring him in.
The goalkeeping situation at Elland Road remains a priority for Daniel Farke ahead of next season. Recent performances have underlined the need for reliability, even if Lucas Perri impressed at Birmingham.
Trafford is viewed as a candidate to strengthen the defensive structure, not merely to fill a position. He brings an elite coaching background from Manchester City and experience in a top-level environment, while his Burnley 2024-25 form and England performances add to the appeal.
Any agreement would need clarity on playing time and commitment to make a loan worthwhile. Leeds could offer immediate first-choice status, whereas it is unclear whether he would start at Villa or Newcastle. For Trafford, regular Premier League minutes could be decisive, and Leeds present the intensity and opportunity he may seek.
