Manchester City face a tough test in the Carabao Cup’s fourth round as Pep Guardiola’s team travel to Tottenham Hotspur.
North London has not been a happy hunting ground for the Citizens in recent years, having scored just three goals in seven previous visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, those goals have come in their last two games, each of which have ended in victories to end their hoodoo at the venue.
City are on a run of five consecutive wins and have not lost in any competition so far this season.
Guardiola has suggested he will ring the changes for the cup tie, however, as he looks to manage a congested fixture list with a depleted squad. Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, who was named winner of the Ballon d’Or on Monday, are among the high-profile absentees for the Blues.
Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri are the big names missing from the Manchester City squad though the influential midfield duo are not alone in the treatment room.
Kyle Walker (thigh) will miss the trip to face his former side, while Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku have been added to the list of casualties in recent weeks. Oscar Bobb is not expected to return from his fractured leg until the New Year.
Guardiola has suggested he could hand minutes to several academy graduates. Kaden Braithwaite and Nico O’Reilly earned opportunities in the previous round against Watford and could be handed another chance to impress at Spurs.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ortega; Lewis, Stones, Braithwaite, Ake; O’Reilly; Savio, McAtee, Gundogan, Nunes; Foden
