In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Manchester United are facing stiff competition for Borussia Dortmund ace Julian Ryerson. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Newcastle United in the race to sign the Norwegian talent next summer.

Ryerson’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga This Season

Ryerson is having a decent campaign at the German club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 28-year-old has picked up 14 assists in 33 matches for Borussia Dortmund this season across multiple competitions.

The Norwegian talent is currently among the best attacking full-backs in German football. Thus, it makes sense for Man United to try and bring him on board this summer.

His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Ryerson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well.

The Norwegian sensation is primarily a right-back but can also operate as a left-back or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, he would need some time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to win the race for his services.

We can expect Ryerson to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s first team. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming seasons.

At 28, Ryerson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for Man United to consider in this summer transfer window. He might even help the Red Devils challenge for some major honours in the future. With all things considered, Ryerson would be well worth the fight, so Carrick should focus on going all out to land him later this year.
