In a recent report, L’Equipe mentioned that Manchester United are in the mix to land Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It has been claimed that the Red Devils would have to rival Manchester City in the race to land the Italian goalie.
Donnarumma had a solid campaign at the French club recently after he put in a handful of impressive performances in goal for them in Ligue 1. He also helped PSG win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this summer.
The 26-year-old conceded 43 goals and kept 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances for his current employers last season on all fronts. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 87.3% in Ligue 1 (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the French club will expire at the end of next season which could give Man United a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Donnarumma can use his strong 1.96m to dominate his penalty box. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few solid saves at the back for his side.
The Italian custodian has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. However, he might need some time to settle into life in the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board this summer.
We can expect Donnarumma to add more quality to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s first XI. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club and would serve as an upgrade over Andre Onana.
Donnarumma might even help the Red Devils get back to challenging for a European spot in the Premier League next season. At 26, the Italian goalie has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Man United to pursue in this transfer window. All in all, Amorim would be wise to go for a keeper of Donnarumma’s quality before the end of this summer transfer window.
