Manchester United have qualified for a third successive Adobe Women’s FA Cup final after defeating Manchester City 2-0 at The Joie Stadium this afternoon.

Celin Bizet Ildhusøy and Grace Clinton got the goals as The Red Devils recorded a famous semi-final victory.

Bizet opened the scoring for Manchester United just six minutes into the game. Ella Toone delivered a perfect pass to the Norwegian international who was free on the right and she whipped the ball into the top right-hand corner of Khiara Keating’s net.

Manchester City soon had a chance to level matters through Lily Murphy but she fired wide.

Manchester United added a second goal through Clinton on 22 minutes. Gabby George swung a ball into the six-yard box and Clinton made herself available to head it into the back of the net.

Kerolin attempted to pull The Cityzens back into the game but visiting keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce managed to get a glove to her shot and tipped the ball over.

Manchester United could have tripled their lead through Bizet, but her swinging ball was caught by the legs of Keating.

The hosts desperately attempted to find a way back into the game and Laia Aleixandri tried her luck from 30 yards but it was a very simple save for Tullis-Joyce.

A Yui Hasegawa free-kick was batted away by Tullis-Joyce before the ball fell to the feet of Murphy, who tried to convert the rebound but the keeper blocked the shot with her leg. Kerolin then found a way through the Manchester United defence before shooting wide as the hosts’ 2024/2025 trophy hopes came to an end.

Following this afternoon’s victory, Manchester United will face Chelsea in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley next month.
