The headline tie for United as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign comes against Champions League holders - and current quarter-finalists - PSG at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg on Saturday, August 8.

They will first meet LaLiga giants Atletico in another headline clash, which takes place in the Snapdragon Cup at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on Saturday, August 1.

United will take on Wrexham at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on Saturday, July 18, with a game against Norwegian side Rosenborg set for Friday, July 24 at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim.

It had already been confirmed last week that a pre-season match against rivals Leeds would take place at Croke Park in Dublin on Wednesday, August 12.

It will be the first time that two English teams have ever played at the venue, though FA Cup semi-finalists Leeds’ involvement depends on them retaining their Premier League status and also not being involved in next season’s Community Shield.

The 2026/27 Premier League season is due to begin on August 22 - later than usual following the World Cup in North America - and runs until May 30.

“Following the announcement of our match against Leeds United in Dublin, we’re excited to confirm four more pre-season fixtures in the Nordics,” said United’s director of football Jason Wilcox.

“We’re delighted to be playing in some fantastic cities, against opponents who will provide a strong test for us.

“We have the best fans in the world, and this schedule gives us a great opportunity to connect with our supporters across Europe. We’re really looking forward to getting out there and putting in the hard work ahead of a big season.”

It remains to be seen who exactly will be in the United dugout for their pre-season friendlies in the summer, with current interim head coach Michael Carrick only contracted until the end of the season.

However, the former long-serving midfielder appears to have established himself as the clear front runner for the permanent manager’s job after winning seven and losing just one of his 10 matches in charge so far since seeing off competition from fellow United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to succeed the sacked Ruben Amorim in January.

The final international break of the season being followed immediately by FA Cup quarter-final weekend means that United - who were knocked out of this season’s FA Cup in the third round and did not qualify for any European competition last term - are currently on an extended run of 24 days without a game, with Carrick taking a 25-man squad to Ireland this week for a four-day training camp in Dublin.

They return to Premier League action on Monday evening against Leeds at Old Trafford.
