Manchester United are plotting a player-plus-cash bid to sign AC Milan winger Rafael Leao this summer.

Milan are open to offers for Leao in the summer as the Rossoneri plan for a rebuild under Max Allegri.

The Portugal international has featured predominantly at centre-forward this season, as part of Allegri’s 3-5-2 system. He is viewed as one of the club’s most saleable assets, as Milan look to raise funds for transfer targets including Bologna striker Santiago Castro and high-profile free agent Dusan Vlahovic.

Manchester United are among the clubs interested with a left-winger on the club’s priority list for the summer window. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s interest in three Old Trafford-based players could help smooth talks.

Milan have monitored the situations of Manuel Ugarte, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, all of whom are free to leave Manchester United in the summer. The trio could all form part of negotiations as United look to reduce Leao’s asking price.

The 26-year-old has been one of Serie A’s standout talents across seven seasons at the San Siro. He was named Serie A Footballer of the Year as Milan won the title in 2022, and has scored 80 goals in 288 games for the club.

United want to sign a natural left-sided forward this summer, with Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu having deputised in the role for much of the campaign.
