Manchester United look determined to revamp their attacking department ahead of next season. Despite signing Rasmus Højlund last summer, the Red Devils continue to struggle for goals at times, and it is no surprise that the club is looking to add more firepower.
As reported by the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are now pushing hard to sign Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian striker has been a standout performer for Wolverhampton Wanderers and is believed to have a release clause in the region of £62.5 million. While several clubs are believed to be interested, the latest Man Utd transfer news suggests that the Red Devils are currently the frontrunners.
Cunha has quietly built a solid reputation for himself in the Premier League. Since arriving from Atletico Madrid, the Brazilian has contributed both goals and assists, while also offering positional versatility and constant movement in the final third.
According to latest Man Utd news, the club has already made initial contact with the striker’s entourage and the early signs are reportedly positive. United hope to close the deal before June, especially with other interested clubs like Newcastle yet to make a concrete move.
Wolves are not expected to stand in Cunha’s way if the release clause is triggered. That said, United are mindful of financial fair play rules and could offload a few players to make space for incoming signings this summer.
The 25-year-old could be a perfect fit for Rúben Amorim’s system. And with Manchester United aiming to restore their status among Europe’s elite, signing someone like Cunha would be a step in the right direction.
While the club is also reportedly monitoring other options like Liam Delap, it seems clear that Matheus Cunha to Manchester United is the priority at the moment. All eyes will be on how this saga unfolds in the coming weeks.
