Manchester United have set a deadline to arrange a transfer for Marcus Rashford, as they close in on the signings of Ederson and Andrey Santos.

Instead, the LaLiga champions moved for Anthony Gordon, signing the winger from Newcastle for £70m.

While Rashford is set for a return to Old Trafford, he is unlikely to be part of Michael Carrick’s plans for the new season after announcing his decision to leave.

Though, the 28-year-old is adamant that he will wait until after the World Cup to sort out his next move.

He said: “I was very clear with everyone involved before the World Cup, I wanted [a transfer] done before.

“If it’s not, I wanted it to wait until after. I want to be fully present in the moment.

“We’re fighting for something special.”

In any case, the Sun claims Man Utd are aiming to sell Rashford before their pre-season training camp in Dublin gets underway on August 8.

The report adds that United are adamant they will not agree to let Rashford leave on another season-long loan and have identified West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential replacement.

With Rashford on his way out of the club, Ederson is on his way in as Man United are set to confirm their first summer signing earlier than expected after agreeing a fee worth £35million, plus £3.8m in add-ons, with Atalanta ahead of the World Cup.

Ederson is expected to sign a four-year contract but Man Utd had held off finalising the deal until Brazil's involvement in the World Cup ended.

Given all-clear after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup by Norway in the last-16, reports claim Ederson will fly to England this week to undergo a medical and sign a four-year contract.
