Manchester United are reportedly set to appoint former Liverpool boss Scott Rogers as their new assistant coach.
Rogers left Liverpool last month, ending his second stint at the Women’s Super League club.
He previously worked at the Reds from 2013 to 2018, initially as assistant manager, before replacing Matt Beard as head coach in 2015.
The Athletic has reported that United are set to appoint Rogers as assistant coach for the women’s team.
Rogers was in attendance at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday, as United began their WSL campaign with a 4-0 victory over Leicester.
Manchester United have been on the lookout for a new assistant coach to Marc Skinner since June.
His previous assistant, Charlotte Healy, left the club after six years to become manager of Bristol City in the WSL 2.
She was one of nine members of staff to confirm their departure this summer.
Rogers has plenty of experience in the role from his time at Liverpool. He was assistant to Matt Beard from 2013 to 2015 – a period that delivered Liverpool two WSL titles.
He replaced Beard as manager in 2015, and stayed in the role until 2018 when he was sacked and replaced by former men’s goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
Rogers returned to work as assistant coach after Beard’s return to the club. However, he left last month following the appointment of new manager Gareth Taylor.
He told the Liverpool website after his exit: “I would like to thank the players, staff and fans for a fantastic couple of years. It has been a pleasure to have worked at this football club across a number of years. I wish everybody all the very best for the future.
Manchester United are in Champions League action against Brann on Thursday night.
It is the first-leg of the third qualifying round, with United hoping to advance to the new league phase of the competition.
Marc Skinner has revealed the United stars who will miss Thursday’s game in his pre-match press conference.
Among the absentees is summer signing Fridolina Rolfo, who is yet to feature for the Red Devils.
United will then return to WSL action on Sunday against the London City Lionesses. The Red Devils will then play host to Brann at Leigh Sports Village in the second-leg next Thursday.
