Hammers bidding to build on their recent dominance over Red Devils in Old Trafford clash

As the last two teams up, both United and the Hammers have the chance to respond to the results around them as they bid to build momentum ahead of the busy festive period.

United’s impressive comeback win over Crystal Palace at the weekend moved them up to seventh in the table and just three points off the Champions League qualification places.

However, Ruben Amorim’s side were beaten in their last home game - by an Everton team playing with 10 men from the 13th minute - and have lost four of the last five meetings with the east London outfit.

West Ham saw their mini-revival of three matches unbeaten snapped by Liverpool as they seek to win on the road for only the second time this season.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Manchester United vs West Ham is scheduled for a 8pm GMT kick-off tonight on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Manchester United vs West Ham team news

United will welcome Matheus Cunha back from injury for the visit of West Ham. The summer signing missed the loss to Everton and win over Palace with a knock sustained in training.

However, Ruben Amorim confirmed Cunha is “good” ahead of the game and the Brazilian’s return could result in Joshua Zirkzee dropping out of the starting XI despite his impressive goal at Selhurst Park to get the Red Devils back on level terms.

Benjamin Sesko remains sidelined with a knee issue and the same applies to Harry Maguire, who was substituted in the draw with Tottenham last month due to a hamstring complaint.

Amorim revealed on Wednesday that he has two further injury doubts, but refused to reveal the identity of the players. Captain Bruno Fernandes was seen clutching his hamstring against Palace, but Amorim allayed any injury fears after that game.

This will be one the final games for Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui before they head off to the Africa Cup of Nations later this month.

West Ham are again without Lucas Paqueta after his late sending off against Liverpool. This game is also set to come too soon for Crysencio Summerville to make his return from injury, ditto Ollie Scarles. Lukasz Fabianski is also out.

Manchester United vs West Ham prediction

Putting the Everton result aside, United are in good form and the win over Crystal Palace should have boosted confidence within the squad.

That said, the loss to the Toffees was a stark reminder of how inconsistent the Red Devils can be under Amorim and this makes the West Ham fixture in reality a lot more trickier than it may appear on paper.

While the Hammers are slowly improving under Nuno Espirito Santo’s watch, we don’t expect them to leave Old Trafford with anything.

Manchester United to win, 2-0.
