Manchester United wants to secure Kobbie Mainoo's future
The signs are becoming increasingly clear: Kobbie Mainoo looks set for a long-term stay at Manchester United. According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils' management are planning to open talks soon with the English midfielder about extending his contract.
Used sparingly under Rúben Amorim, Mainoo was limited to a secondary role, making just 15 appearances this season, often coming off the bench. However, the departure of the Portuguese coach at the start of January changed everything. Since then, the 20-year-old has regained a more prominent spot in the lineup, starting two of the last three available matches. The situation is further boosted by the imminent departure of Casemiro at the end of the season.
Now seen as a credible and lasting option in the defensive midfield role, Mainoo's patience is finally paying off. Under contract until June 2027, the England international has already had his camp approached by Manchester United, although the length of the proposed extension remains unclear.
