Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has announced the heartbreaking passing of his mother.

On the eve of United’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex, Amad took to Snapchat, where he shared the devastating news.

The forward posted a picture of his mother holding her children.

Amad captioned the photo with the message, “Rest in please Mum, may Allah forgive you.”

Unsurprisingly, there has been an outpouring of condolences sent to the Ivorian even as he comes to terms with the loss of a loved one.

United fans and beyond have expressed their support to the player and those close to him via social media.

After a brilliant pre-season, Amad was named in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI to face Fulham in the club’s Premier League opener against Fulham last week.

The 22-year-old picked up where he left off in pre-season as he produced another brilliant performance on the Red Devils’ way to beating the Cottagers 1-0.

Joshua Zirkzee scored the only goal of the match to secure all three points for United.

On that occasion, Amad was on the pitch for 61 minutes before he was taken off by Ten Hag and replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.

As noted here, Amad was born in 2002 to his mother Marina Edwige and father Hamed Mamadou Traore.

The United star received his surname Traore from his father but later changed it to Diallo. He was raised alongside his older brother, Hamed Traore. Amad’s brother also enjoyed football.
