Manchester United’s search for attacking reinforcements has brought them to the door of Juventus, with Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic emerging as a potential cut-price summer acquisition. CaughtOffside reports that the Italian giants are now willing to part ways with the 25-year-old forward for a significantly reduced fee, potentially as low as £25 million. This is a staggering drop from the £66.6 million Juventus spent to secure his signature in January 2022.
Rúben Amorim is acutely aware that United’s squad is in dire need of attacking reinforcements. With the club languishing outside the European qualification spots, the pressure is mounting on the Portuguese tactician to restore the Red Devils’ cutting edge. The 16 goal contributions Vlahovic has registered across all competitions this season could make him an attractive solution to United’s goal-scoring woes.

Juventus’ willingness to offload Vlahovic stems from financial constraints and their inability to secure a contract extension with the striker. His current deal runs out in 2026, but with just 12 months left before he enters his final contractual year, Juventus are wary of losing him for free. CaughtOffside notes that his current wages of £315,000 per week add another layer of urgency to the Bianconeri’s decision to sanction his departure.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford has signalled a new era of strategic squad-building. Fresh off unveiling ambitious plans for a 100,000-seater stadium, Ratcliffe’s INEOS-led ownership group is also prioritising squad reinvestment. The acquisition of Patrick Dorgu for £30 million from Serie A strugglers Lecce was one of the few winter moves United could afford, given their limited budget.
Vlahovic represents an intriguing opportunity for United—a high-potential striker available at a fraction of his original cost. However, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle United, Chelsea, West Ham United, and Everton all reportedly interested in the Serbian international, United could face serious competition for his signature.
While Vlahovic’s availability at a discount price is tempting, there are valid concerns about his consistency and suitability for the Premier League. His time at Juventus has been turbulent, with injuries and tactical mismatches affecting his form. Nevertheless, his talent remains undeniable, and United may view him as a valuable asset capable of leading their frontline for years to come.
CaughtOffside reports that Juventus have turned their attention to replacements, particularly Randal Kolo Muani, who has impressed on loan at Paris Saint-Germain. This could further open the door for United to move in swiftly and secure a deal before other Premier League suitors step up their pursuit.
A potential £25 million deal for Vlahovic would be nothing short of a steal in today’s transfer market. The Serbian forward is still only 25 and possesses the physicality, technical ability, and finishing prowess to thrive in the Premier League. If Amorim can refine his role in the system, United may have finally found a long-term centre-forward solution.
Sceptical supporters:
However, United fans will recall past expensive striker signings that failed to live up to expectations—Radamel Falcao, Romelu Lukaku, and even Wout Weghorst’s ill-fated loan spell come to mind. Given Vlahovic’s injury record and mixed form at Juventus, some might wonder whether he is genuinely the right fit or just another name to add to United’s long list of failed attacking signings.
With other Premier League clubs circling, Manchester United must decide whether this is an opportunity too good to pass up or a financial gamble they cannot afford to lose. Either way, the battle for Vlahovic’s signature will be one to watch closely in the coming months.
