Mansfield come from behind to stun Burnley at Turf Moor | OneFootball

Louis Reed scored one of the best freekicks of the season to give Mansfield Town a cupset victory away to Premier League side Burnley.

While the Clarets may not be in the top flight for too much longer this was quite the scalp for Mansfield who were a goal down until the 53rd minute.

Josh Laurent had put Scott Parker's team in the lead with just over 20 minutes gone. The Stags had absorbed some heavy pressure and looked to counter only to be caught out again.

Some neat football on the edge of the Mansfield area resulted in Lyle Foster finding Laurent in acres of space in the box. The midfielder did well to cut back inside effectively taking goalkeeper Liam Roberts out of the game and then tapping into an empty net.

Eight minutes into the second half the third tier team were level. Quili Hartman wanted a foul on the edge of the area but instead the ball found its way through to Kyle Knoyle who put in a cross that Rhys Oates headed in.

The game was won in the 80th minute when Reed stood over the ball about 25 yards from goal. The former Sheffield United man then struck a shot that went up and over the wall and back down into the corner beyond the reach of Max Weiss.

From that point Nigel Clough's side managed to hold on and secure a spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup – a result that will likely put pressure on his counterpart, Scott Parker.
