Marc Cucurella signs for Real Madrid despite Barcelona interest | OneFootball

Marc Cucurella signed for Real Madrid on Monday, despite recent interest from Barcelona, the club where he came through.

According to L'Équipe, Barcelona had tracked the left-back in recent months and he acknowledged a return would carry special meaning, saying it could be hard to turn down but would still need confirmation.

In March, speaking with Spain on the eve of the 0-0 friendly against Egypt, and then a Chelsea player, Cucurella said his future was undecided and any decision would wait until the summer if an opportunity arose.

A few months later, the picture shifted. Now officially a Real Madrid player, he returns to La Liga after four seasons in the Premier League, this time with Barcelona’s major rivals.

During that same media appearance, he also stressed there would be no rush over his next step. He said they would assess options in the summer, and it did not take long to learn which path he chose.
