Marco Silva names 24-man Benfica squad as Durán misses Europa League trip | OneFootball

Benfica have released Marco Silva’s first competitive squad, naming 24 players for Thursday’s trip to Switzerland.

They face St. Gallen in the first leg of the Europa League second qualifying round, but one omission stands out.

Glorioso 1904 reports that new signing Jhon Durán, unveiled this week, misses out because he is not yet registered with UEFA, so he cannot be selected for this match.

In contrast, Clément Lenglet, Jakub Kaminski, Tomás Araújo and Amar Dedic travel with the team and are available to Silva. Leandro Barreiro is out with a respiratory infection, while Jaden Umeh, Joshua Wynder, Gabriel Índio and Gianluca Prestianni also do not travel. Prestianni is suspended and Gabriel Índio remains ineligible for the competition.

Goalkeepers named are Anatoliy Trubin, Samuel Soares and Diogo Ferreira. Defensive options include Alexander Bah, Amar Dedic, Daniel Banjaqui, Tomás Araújo, Clément Lenglet, António Silva, Rui Silva, José Neto and Samuel Dahl.

In midfield, Silva has Enzo Barrenechea, Gonçalo Moreira, Miguel Figueiredo and Manu Silva. The forwards are Anísio Cabral, Georgiy Sudakov, Franjo Ivanovic, Tiago Gouveia, Rafa Silva, Jakub Kaminski, Vangelis Pavlidis and João Rêgo. The tie will also mark Silva’s official debut in charge as Benfica look to take a first step towards Europa League qualification.
