Marcos defends Carlos Miguel after Palmeiras mistake in 2-1 defeat to Atlético-MG | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Marcos has offered support to Carlos Miguel after the goalkeeper’s error in Palmeiras’ 2-1 home defeat to Atlético-MG on Sunday at Nubank Parque. The club great urged the current number one to keep his head up.

Atlético-MG took the lead when Carlos Miguel parried a Cassierra strike, lost sight of the loose ball and Victor Hugo converted the rebound.

He also rushed out poorly for the visitors’ second and, after the final whistle, accepted responsibility in front of team-mates and supporters.

In a social media post, Marcos said fans had been tagging him about the mistake and he referenced his own career to underline that even top keepers err.

Head coach Abel Ferreira said the goalkeeper has the tools to be among Brazil’s best, noting that errors happen and that Carlos Miguel was the first to own his. He added that such goals cannot be conceded and that accountability is required.
