Marcus Rashford still only wants Barcelona despite Gordon arrival | OneFootball

Marcus Rashford remains fixed on one destination this summer.

According to SPORT, the Manchester United forward still wants only a return to Barcelona. The arrival of Anthony Gordon has not shifted his thinking.

His World Cup form has added a fresh twist. Rashford came off the bench to score in England’s 4-2 win over Croatia, a composed finish into the far corner.

United believe such displays could push up his market value during the tournament, strengthening their hand in any sale.

Rashford still has eyes only for Barcelona

That, though, has not changed his priority. Rashford spent last season on loan at Camp Nou and feels he has unfinished business in Catalonia.

He thrived under Hansi Flick, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists as Barcelona won LaLiga. The Spanish boss made clear he wanted the forward to stay.

He is reportedly prepared to wait until late in the window for a permanent deal to be revived. The obstacles, however, remain considerable.

Barcelona signed Gordon for a major fee and let their €30m option on Rashford lapse on June 15. With Gordon set to start on the left, they no longer value Rashford at that price.

United, for their part, want a permanent sale rather than another loan. They are also unwilling to drop their valuation, even as Barcelona push for cheaper terms.

Rashford has already shown his commitment by agreeing a pay cut to ease any wage concerns.

His determination could yet prove decisive. By holding out for Barcelona above other suitors, Rashford may pile pressure on all sides as the window wears on and his alternatives narrow.
