Mariza honoured by Corinthians, thanks Fiel for their support

After winning several titles, joining the Brazilian National Team, and connecting with the fans, Mariza is leaving Corinthians to play for a foreign club. In tribute to her services, the club conducted an interview with the player, where she reminisced about her beginnings and memorable moments at Parque São Jorge.

One of the topics was how Mariza used to look up to the other Timão players and how she is seen today. “I think I don’t know how to answer that, because I still look up to them, and today they are my friends. I think I’m happy to have achieved this, and I hope that many people, when they see me on the field, can believe that it’s possible and that they can also achieve their dreams,” the defender began.

“On the day of my debut, I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly when I arrived. When it happened, I was very happy. There were so many feelings, but I really said that I wanted to stay here forever, because it was the first time the fans were so close, that I was on the field and felt that. It was one of the best sensations I’ve ever had,” she commented about her debut, which took place in 2022.

With 141 matches played wearing the Timão shirt, she leaves the Brabas with a record of 100 wins, 26 draws, and only 15 losses. In addition, she won 11 titles, with the Libertadores being the most memorable for the defender.

“I’m going to mention one championship in particular. I think the 2024 Libertadores. It’s a bit special for me, both in a good and bad way, because unfortunately, I lost my brother during the competition. I stayed there in Paraguay, finished the competition playing. Maybe I didn’t deliver my best football in the final, but I managed to be there. It was important for me to have everyone there as they were. I think this moment, on a personal level, I will carry with me for my entire life,” Mariza recalled.

“I want to thank everyone for all the affection I’ve always received here, especially from the fans. Thank you for the trust everyone has always had in me and for always believing in me too. And I want to tell you that I gave everything I could until my last day and always wanted to return all the affection in the form of victories and titles. I think, unfortunately, our paths will part now, but we’ll see each other soon,” the player concluded, emotionally, after receiving a framed picture delivered by Corinthians.
