Sport Bild suggests a split could be looming between Eintracht Frankfurt and board member for sport Markus Krösche.
Eintracht have been widely praised in recent years for their development, with Krösche earning credit for his transfer work. This season’s on-pitch struggles, however, point to friction behind the scenes.
It is said to be far from certain that Krösche will see out his contract, which runs until 2028. The 45-year-old is understood to believe there is a widening gap between the club’s financial and sporting expectations.
He is expected to deliver significant transfer surpluses while also improving results on the pitch, a model he reportedly doubts can be sustained indefinitely.
At January’s general assembly, CEO Axel Hellmann stated the club had misjudged parts of the squad and that some personnel decisions had not worked, something that is said not to have gone down well with Krösche.
The report does not clarify how urgent the situation is. If Krösche chooses to depart before his deal expires, several opportunities are considered likely to be available to him.
