PSG are off to the semifinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Bayern Munich. However, there was a moment toward the end of the match when Ousmane Dembélé scored for a nine-man PSG squad, but capped off by using Diogo Jota’s signature celebration.

The Parisians were in a tightly contested matchup against the German side as the first half ended in a scoreless draw. Nonetheless, the scoring came in the final 45 minutes with Désiré Doué opening the scoring in the 78th minute.

Following the goal from Doué, the match went into chaos with PSG going down to nine men after two red cards. Despite the major hurdle, Dembélé would score the goal to seal the win for the capital club.

Dembélé scored with his first touch after a dazzling run from Achraf Hakimi, who weaved through several Bayern Munich defenders before cutting the ball back perfectly, leading the Frenchman to finish easily. Afterward, he celebrated in the style of Jota as a tribute to the former Liverpool player, who passed away on Thursday.

After the win, Marquinhos spoke to DAZN and was asked about the celebration Dembélé used to honor Jota.

“It was very difficult to hear the news,” Marquinhos said (h/t BBC). “We have got Portuguese players in the dressing room and they were with him only a few weeks ago playing in the Nations League. So we wanted to cheer them up. Jota deserves all the tributes in the world. You don’t want to see accidents like that.”
