According to Le Progres, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has ruled PSG centre-back Marquinhos out of Thursday’s friendly against France in Boston, citing physical issues. The match is scheduled for 21:00.
The Italian will have to reshape his back line for this World Cup tune-up, with fellow centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes and left-back Alex Sandro also injured.
Speaking in Orlando, Florida, Ancelotti said the defender has a minor problem and could feature against Croatia next Tuesday.
Léo Pereira, the 30-year-old Flamengo centre-back, will make his international debut against France, though his partner was not disclosed. The full-backs will be Wesley of Roma and Douglas Santos of Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Ancelotti called the game an important test against one of the World Cup favourites and stressed the need for attitude and quality. He noted France’s pace in attack and said Brazil must play a balanced game to limit counter-attacks while focusing on their own strengths.
Asked about the continued absence of Neymar, Brazil’s record scorer, he said he is observing and listening, then will make decisions in his role. He added that everyone has their own opinion.
