Marquinhos, a Corinthians academy graduate, lifted his second Champions League as Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal on penalties in the final.

According to Meu Timao, the PSG captain has now drawn level with Daniel Alves as the Brazilian with the most career titles, on 42.

The centre-back played 105 minutes, sitting out the second period of extra time.

His haul includes 35 trophies in France, the Copa Libertadores with Corinthians, and two with Brazil, the Copa América and the Olympic Games.

He needs only one more to hold the outright Brazilian record, and sits four behind Lionel Messi’s all-time mark of 46.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães, a declared Corinthians supporter, and Gabriel Martinelli, who came through the club’s youth ranks, endured a painful afternoon. Magalhães missed the decisive kick in the shootout that sealed PSG’s triumph.

In April 2024, Marquinhos became Paris Saint-Germain’s all-time appearance holder, overtaking Jean-Marc Pilorget and Marco Verratti. His tally now stands at 523 senior matches, including this final.

He joined PSG in 2013/14 in a €35 million move and has been a fixture ever since, while becoming a regular for Brazil.
