Marseille striker Mason Greenwood (24) will miss out on Marseille’s trip to AS Monaco following the international break after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season against Lille yesterday evening. The Englishman was forced off early against Lille after a foul by defender Verdonk, and reacted to a shove by Hakon Haraldsson in the following scuffle which saw the Englishman shown a yellow.“Mason will undergo a medical exam tomorrow,” explained Habib Beye in his post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News. “The impact was quite violent, he was in a lot of pain because of the double impact.” “Haraldsson comes in with a lot of impact. Mason doesn’t see him arrive, he should have been sanctioned further. What is sure is we now have a player that is injured,” added Beye on Greenwood. Beye also said he was cautious of Greenwood also picking up a suspension. “I told him not to react when opponents try to provoke him, but there his reaction is linked to fear – so I find that to sanction both players is not equal with what happened on the pitch. We will miss a player with a lot of quality.”GFFN | George Boxall – reporting form Marseille.
