Foot Mercato reports that Marseille are close to an agreement with Al-Sadd over the departure of Nayef Aguerd, 30.
OM are seeking to raise funds and cut their wage bill before the window closes, with Aguerd among those who could be sold despite arriving only last year.
The Morocco international is under contract at the Vélodrome until 2030. A clause allowed a €15m exit, payable in one instalment, until 31 July, but it was not activated. Stade Rennais explored a return, although talks did not progress.
Al-Sadd have moved ahead, with a paid loan worth €4m close, including an automatic €11m purchase option.
Marseille had prioritised a permanent sale to bring in immediate funds, but after struggling to secure a suitable offer they have accepted the loan structure.
Al-Sadd must now agree terms with Aguerd, who has 64 caps for Morocco. Other clubs have also enquired about his situation.
