Marseille set to loan Soumaila Traoré to Montpellier | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille are set to loan Soumaila Traoré (20) to Montpellier HSC. The Malian midfielder has yet to make an appearance for Les Phocéens since arriving at the club academy from Djoliba AC in 2022.

Last season, Traoré was blooded in the French leagues when he spent half of the season on loan at FC Versailles, helping the squad to a 13th-place finish in the Championnat National. He made 13 appearances and missed only three games following his arrival. However, Versailles did not have the option to make this deal permanent.

Traoré will now take the step up to Ligue 2 as a part of a Montpellier side that is hoping that their stay in the second tier will be brief following last season’s relegation. Unlike Versailles, La Paillade will have the option to make their deal for the midfielder permanent for an undisclosed fee.
