Paris FC are closing on Marshall Munetsi for the next six months, a move aimed at injecting power into a lightweight midfield. According to L'Équipe, the Zimbabwe international is set to join on a straight loan with no option to buy.
Munetsi, capped 37 times, arrived at the Orly training base on Thursday for his medical and is expected to sign on Friday morning. He moved to Wolverhampton last season for 18 M€ after a standout spell at Reims from 2019 to 2025.
The promoted side failed to land Benjamin André in the summer, and a bet on forward Luca Koleosho, 21, was followed by a turn to experience with Munetsi, who turns 30 in June. Results have dipped, with 15th place and a run of six matches without a win, and the midfield’s athletic shortcomings were exposed before winter.
With 148 Ligue 1 games, 21 goals and 14 assists, Munetsi fits coach Stéphane Gilli’s box-to-box brief. Powerful and mobile, he drives play forward and progressed steadily after arriving at Reims from Orlando Pirates in 2019.
Initially a centre-back before settling as a holding midfielder, he was even pushed higher under Will Still to disturb the opposition build-up. His first coach in France, David Guion, has praised his versatility, running power and positional intelligence, and believes his intensity could greatly lift Paris FC.
Off the pitch, Munetsi earned admirers for a considerate personality. Guion has described him as responsible, generous and relentlessly positive, someone who brightens a dressing room.
