Leon Bailey’s time at Roma has been disastrous so far.
After a good performance against Inter, the number 31 hasn’t made an impact in the Giallorossi jersey. He’s lost his way in futile dribbles and lacks incisiveness.
He’s also suffered three injuries, including the latest against Juventus, though not serious, which have forced him to sit out 11 games.
For these reasons, the Jamaican’s fate seemed sealed. The 1997-born player’s future was thought to be far from Roma, partly due to a failed connection with Gian Piero Gasperini, but that could change with Frederic Massara’s decision.
The Giallorossi sporting director doesn’t want to sacrifice Bailey, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, because he believes in the Jamaican’s ability.
He believes the player’s qualities are beyond question and hopes to see him at peak condition soon. So now the number of players who could return to England is down to two, if this scenario is confirmed.
Indeed, Kostas Tsimikas’s future seems sealed, while Evan Ferguson’s is still awaited. Despite the Irishman’s relationship with Gasperini, Roma wants to find a replacement before letting him go.
