Thomas Bramall has been appointed into the role of match referee for Manchester City’s home clash with Brighton & Hove Albion by the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola’s side have found themselves in a small blip of form of late despite completing a 10-game unbeaten run across competitions, drawing both of their first two games of the brand new calendar year.
Having been held to a 0-0 draw at Sunderland on New Year’s Day, manager-less Chelsea visited the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening to snatch a point in the 93rd minute courtesy of Enzo Fernandez – leaving City six points behind the leaders Arsenal.
There remains no time for Manchester City to reflect however, as their next Premier League encounter comes just 72 hours later as they welcome South Coast outfit Brighton & Hove Albion to the North-West.
That clash then precedes the return of FA Cup action to Pep Guardiola and his players’ hectic fixture agenda, with Exeter City the visitors on Saturday afternoon in the traditional 3PM kick-off slot.
But ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!
The Premier League have this week confirmed that Thomas Bramall has been appointed into the role of on-field match referee for Manchester City against Brighton & Hove Albion – his 16th contest of the season across all competitions.
The Sheffield official has so far officiated contests across action in the Premier League, EFL Championship, and Carabao Cup, issuing a total of 48 yellow cards, two second yellow card dismissals, one straight red card, and awarding three penalties in the process.
Bramall and Manchester City have only met on one previous occasion, coming in the penultimate matchday of the last campaign and Kevin De Bruyne’s final appearance for the club at the Etihad Stadium.
The matchday 37 victory over Bournemouth saw Manchester City emerge with all three points in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 win, in a game that Bramall issued a yellow card and a straight red card for Lewis Cook during the second-half.
Accompanying Thomas Bramall on the field at the Etihad Stadium this week will be Neil Davies and Matthew Wilkes in the assistant referee roles, the Premier League have confirmed.
Overseeing Manchester City against Brighton & Hove Albion from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park will be Video Assistant Referee Alex Chilowicz, alongside Assistant Video Assistant Referee Dan Robathan.
Managing the two dugouts this week and overseeing both Pep Guardiola and Fabian Hurzeler will be the contest’s appointed fourth official, referee Tony Harrington.
