Legendary Inter defender Marco Materazzi publicly advised Davide Frattesi against joining Roma.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Roma.
In light of these rumors, Materazzi spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“In a year and a half at Inter he has earned the respect of the entire environment: of the club that made great economic sacrifices to buy him, of the coach who strongly wanted him, of the fans who consider him to all intents and purposes a protagonist of the Scudetto won last season.”
“Frattesi scored his first goal as an Inter player in the derby, he has scored other decisive, very important ones. His celebration last year after the goal against Verona, climbing with a swollen vein on the balustrade, is an iconic image of the Scudetto run. All this translates into enormous credit.”
“Roma is the club where he grew up and there he would have more space to play consistently, but we also need to broaden our view to the whole context. At Inter Frattesi has already won and has the chance to repeat himself, he is in a team that is fighting for the top, on all fronts.”
“In Rome he would find a completely different situation, complicated in terms of results. And there is the risk of a sort of overexposure, let’s say, because in Rome they don’t forgive you for anything. Just think of Pellegrini, a Roman and a Roma fan like Frattesi: up until the goal in the derby he went through so many difficult moments.”
