Mateus Mane to Manchester United might be in jeopardy after the latest claims surrounding the 18-year-old Premier League breakout star.

Mane the spark at Molineux

Despite Wolverhampton Wanderers’ struggles, Mane has stood out as the shining light in a rather starless season for the West Midlands side.

Proving he can punch well above his weight, the Wolves star has impressed with his elite dribbling, high-intensity pressing, and ability to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

Transfer interest

Manchester United and Liverpool have both registered their interest, whilst PSG are among the European clubs monitoring the teenager.

The Peoples Person recently covered a report suggesting that United and Liverpool are reluctant to meet the £50 million fee Wolves are allegedly demanding for the attacker.

Tottenham Hotspur willing to meet Wolves’ Mane asking price

Yet as the two Premier League heavyweights baulk at overpaying for the £30 million-rated wonderkid, Sports Boom have dropped an interesting claim. The UK outlet is reporting:

“Mateus Mane could be Tottenham’s next big signing, if Spurs survive relegation.”

They explain:

“Spurs believe the prospect of regular first-team football is likely to prove attractive to the player rather than the intermittent action at either Manchester United or another of his reported suitors, Liverpool.

“His estimated value of around £30m, although Wolves are holding out for £20m more, also fits within the budget of Spurs’ notoriously frugal board.”

United need to be proactive

Whilst the threat of Tottenham Hotspur dropping into the Championship would effectively rule them out of the race, United cannot afford to rely solely on their rivals’ misfortune.

The Red Devils must take control of their own situation. If Mane is a player they believe is worth snapping up, they need to be pushing hard to convince him Old Trafford is the right destination.

As brilliant as he has been for a struggling side, he could prove an absolute nightmare for opponents in a team as strong as United.

That tantalising prospect alone should be motivation enough for the 20-time English champions to outsmart their rivals and get this deal done.
