Matheus França seeks revival at Vasco with Renato chance and Pedrinho backing | OneFootball

Matheus França made his first appearance under Renato Gaúcho on Sunday, a chance that arrives with public backing from president Pedrinho as the midfielder looks to revive his Vasco spell.

França came on 23 minutes into the second half against Grêmio, ending an absence of almost two months. According to Globo.com, Renato Gaúcho has rotated the squad since taking charge, with only three of those named to squads yet to feature, Carlos Cuesta, Walace Falcão and Daniel Fuzato.

His previous outing was on 29 January against Mirassol in the opening round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Pedrinho has asked supporters to back Matheus França, saying he is a player of considerable potential.

The midfielder’s loan runs only until the end of June, and the club are not expected to approach Crystal Palace about an extension. There is no purchase option in the deal, and since arriving in August last year he has struggled to adapt.

França could now have another chance against Coritiba in the ninth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro on Wednesday, kick-off 20:30 at Estádio Couto Pereira.
